What could be more enticing than a delicious hot chocolate packed with flavour, and as a bonus, filled with nourishing ingredients?
Completely milk free but with the added benefits of coconut milk, spices and superfood powders.
Perfect for the cold weather, this vegan hot chocolate is cuddle in a cup and a great way to start or end the day.
Thickened with creamy coconut milk and bananas, the coconut milk is a great dairy free substitute for anyone who can’t or chooses not to eat dairy. Coconuts are highly nutritious and rich in fibre, vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5 and B6 and minerals including iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorous.
Aside the mixed spice and cinnamon which give a slight spice to this creamy goodness, I added some superfood ingredients which were sent to me from Indigo Herbs.
I have been trying to include turmeric into my diet on a daily basis, especially through the cold winter months. I am sure you are all aware it’s known as a medicinal ingredient in a lot of Chinese, Indian and Ayurvedic cooking. Recent studies also suggest it can help if preventing Cancer, Liver damage, Diabetes and Dementia.

Here is what you will need for this delicious cup of goodness.
- 1 can coconut milk
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 2 tablespoons cacao
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Acai Powder
- 2 bananas
- Pinch mixed spice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Flaked almonds or seeds to sprinkle.
Place a non stick saucepan over a medium heat. Add the coconut milk as well as all ingredients except the bananas.
Using a wooden spoon, keep stirring to allow the powders to mix with milk and thicken for about 5 minutes. This will form a thick dark blend.
Chop the bananas and add to a food processor with the chocolate coconut milk mixture. Blend until you have a smooth creamy consistency.
Empty into your cup and sprinkle some flaked almonds or seeds for added benefits.
You can store this in the refrigerator.
